Navigate to the following Website address: https://isweb.fdu.edu/secure/download/vpn_download.html

Important: In order to access the VPN software download, a valid Webmail account is required.

1. Type your FDU Webmail Login Name and Password.

2. Then click OK.

Please note: Both files displayed within the following dialog will be downloaded to your computer’s hard drive in order to complete the installation.

3. Right click on the FDU Profile link and select Save Target As… (or Save Link As…)

Important: Save the FDU Profile to a location on your hard drive that will be easily found once downloaded (e.g. c:\temp).

The FDU Profile needs to be saved in its original format, so it is necessary to change the file type to All Files.

4. Click on the VPN Client link to initiate the file download. The following dialog will appear.

5. Click Save to continue.

6. Close the Browser after the download is complete.

7. Select the Start button and Run.

8. Type in the path to where the downloaded files are located (e.g. c:\temp) and select Browse.

9. Select the file for your machine and click Open.

10. Click OK to continue.

The following screen will be a WinZip Self-Extractor dialog.

11. Within the Unzip to folder field, type in the path location of the downloaded files (e.g. c:\temp).

12. Click Unzip to decompress the Self-extracting zip file.

13. Click OK.

14. Click Next to continue.

Throughout the next several screens, please keep the default settings and click Next to continue. Eventually the installation will complete displaying the following dialog.

15. Click Finish to restart the computer.

Once Windows restarts and you return to the main Desktop screen, there should be a program Icon for the VPN Client software.

If an Icon does not appear on the Desktop, select Start, All Programs and search for the Cisco Systems VPN Client program group. Then click on the VPN Client Icon.

Once the Cisco VPN Client software is started, the following dialog will appear.

16. Double click on the Connection Entry labeled Fairleigh Dickinson University, or click on the Connect button. The following dialog will appear.

17. Type your FDU Webmail Username and Password in order to initiate the User Authentication process.

Important: Please remember to use your entire Username (e.g. smith@fdu.edu).

Finally, the progress bar will display the login process and the attempt to establish the proper communication channels. This is the final step for establishing a secure VPN connection to the University’s private network.

In addition, a small icon will appear in the lower right corner of the task bar that will indicate the VPN Client is connected.

Please note: It should not be necessary to import the FDU Profile if the download instructions were followed exactly. If the Fairleigh Dickinson University profile does not appear under the Connection Entry section, it may be due to the FDU Profile download was not placed in the same directory as the installation files.

If this is the case, just click on the Connection Entries menu, and then click Import. Then search for the FDU Profile location in the Look in field (c:\temp) and click on the FairleighDickinsonUniversity.pcf file.

The following dialog will appear after the Profile has been successfully imported.

Please return to steps 16 and 17 in order to properly connect to FDU via the Cisco VPN Client software.
