Instructions for Connecting to the FDU Network
In an effort to provide you with the most secure and reliable
network possible, a new network security system has been implemented.
This system will prohibit virus infected PCs from gaining access
to the FDU network and infecting your system.
If you are attempting to access the FDU Network from the dorms
using a Microsoft Windows operating system, please follow the
instruction below.
1. Start up your browser
Boot up your PC and start up your favorite browser.
2. Download Cisco Clean Access
The browser will redirect you to a site prompting you to enter
your Webmail username and password. Once this information has
been entered, you will have the ability to download and install
the Cisco Clean Access agent. After the application has successfully
been installed, you will see the Cisco Clean Access icon in the row
of icons known as your System tray, on the lower right hand side
of your desktop,. If you experience any problems with downloading
Cisco Clean Access, please view the “Cisco Clean Access Installation” section
of our Troubleshooting documentation. Additionally, you
can receive support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by contacting
the FDU Technical Assistance Center at (973)443-8822.
3. Validating and Updating
You can now log in or out of the FDU network by right clicking
on the Cisco Clean Access icon.
The Cisco Clean Access will now automatically validate your system
configuration to ensure that your Symantec antivirus software
is installed and up to date. Additionally, Cisco Clean Access will
check that the appropriate patches and security updates have
been installed to your Microsoft operating system.
If the validation is successful, you will be logged onto the
network.
If the validation is not successful, you will be directed to
a remediation site such as Windows Update. You need to update
your system or security files at that time. Depending on the
updates required, you may be prompted to reboot your computer
multiple times before the changes take effect.
